The New Mexico Department of Agriculture (NMDA) and the New Mexico Chile Commission, the sponsors of the: ‘Battle of the Salsas’ at the 2001 New Mexico’s State Fair, are happy to announce that: “Pedro’s Homestyle Gourmet Green Salsa” has been awarded this year’s 1st place winner by beating out the competition of 33 other salsas.

Pedro’s Green Salsa was also voted: 1st place at a local Motorcycle Rally.

Pedro’s Homestyle Gourmet Salsas are now cooked and completely processed by our local co-packer: Comfort Foods, Inc. in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They’ve been in business since 1985.

Pedro Ruiz Enterprises, Inc. is a family owned and operated business which specializes in providing healthy and homestyle Mexican flavored salsas for your dining pleasure. We started as a sole proprietorship business in 1995. Pedro began making the Green salsa first in our home kitchen. Then the doors opened for us to put our salsa in the Furr`s Supermarkets, a store chain with 72 stores in New Mexico.

It wasn’t long before we realized there was also a need for a red hot, medium and mild salsa. Now, all four salsas are available in 120 major grocery stores: Albertsons, Smiths-Raleys-John Brooks-Lowes-Wild Oats-Whole Foods-La Montanita and several smaller Mom and Pop stores in New Mexico, plus many Gift Shops. Pedro’s Homestyle Gourmet Salsas are also available in eight (8) Albertsons stores in El Paso, Texas.
